MAIL / POST

Hey guys!
Sorry for bombarding you with so much stuff lately! I need to take advantage of having WiFi before I’m off the grid for a couple of weeks 🙂

So …. as requested and promised, here comes some information on mailing things to the ship!
As some of you have asked, I will try to explain a little how this works.
Please take a minute and read through the info, since it’s really important stuff. THANK YOU! <3

If you are sending mail from EUROPE, it makes sense to send it to the DUTCH national office in THE NETHERLANDS:

Anesthesia department
CONTAINER (or CREW MAIL) – Explanation below – IMPORTANT!
Ridderkerkstraat 20
3076 JW  Rotterdam
The Netherlands

Notify
“To keep track of all shipments please send a notification of your shipment to procurement.holland@mercyships.nl
Or give us a call upfront to discuss best way of shipment. ”
–
I would definitely want to encourage this if you’re actually sending me a Jeep (see picture above).
If it is a package with Christmas cookies, I personally wouldn’t bother with this step 🙂

If you are sending something from CANADA or the UNITED STATES, please use the Adress of Mercy Ships in Texas:

Mercy Ships
AFM

For attention of: Silke Kessing
Anesthesia department
CONTAINER (or CREW MAIL) – Explanation below – IMPORTANT!
P.O. Box 2020

Lindale, TX 75771-2020
USA

Whichever office you choose, there are two important things to keep in mind for either office.
ANY MAIL like cards, letters etc. can be sent via CREW MAIL, which means they will arrive faster and this is free of charge for me if they don’t weigh more than 10 ounces or 283,5 grams (so please keep your letters short 🙂 ).
For PACKAGES please continue reading carefully 🙂

FOR EVERY package sent through CREW MAIL the recipient (that’s me 🙂 ) will be charged a fee.
Mercy Ships will take 8,8o USD PER POUND out of MY CREW BANK ACCOUNT.
So please do not send anything via crew mail unless we have explicitly agreed on this or you refund me the recipient fee 🙂 THANK YOU!

Any package shipped VIA CONTAINER is FREE (yayyyyyy!) – so feel free to send anything you would like to surprise me with (unless it is an item listed on the hazardous material watchlist, which I will attach below – it will be taken out of the package if Mercy Ships choose to open it for inspection).

Since my birthday is coming up (November 18, in case you forgot) and some of you have asked – I still have my AMAZON wishlists, which I try to keep updated … oh and I love Jeeps 🙂
US wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3VZYRTN8C6RWG/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1
German wishlist:  https://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/1M4C4AOMJ9W95/ref=cm_wl_list_o_0?

As for the shipping duration times, items sent via Container take longer to arrive, but since we are in Westafrica (not Madagascar), they should arrive within 8-12 weeks after being processed through the offices and leaving one of the two ports.
Crew Mail usually takes 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Christmas Cookies should survive on the container (cold/heat), but can also, like any other mail like cards, letters, books etc. be sent via crew mail (if the package weighs less than 10 ounces or you send me some money to my crew bank account to pay for the fees 🙂 ) – which should arrive in a shorter amount of time.

Let me know if you need anything else!
Thank you so much for being a partner on my journey! I will keep this site up on the right side of the “HOME” page of my blog – simply click on the “MAIL/POST” button and the link will take you here.

Love from Texas!
Silke
